Thompson Prop Busters promotes all aspects of radio controlled model aviation. We are located at the Thompson
Raceway Park on Sidley Road in Thompson, Ohio (see address in banner above). We are a chartered Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) club. Our field features a runway that runs east and west and we also have a lake on which members enjoy flying their models off the water with floats.
If you enjoy flying without all the hassle of special events and fundraisers, this is a club you should consider joining. We have a great group of folks who enjoy hanging out at the field and flying. Our field is second to none in Northeast Ohio.
Learning to fly a new RC Aircraft without the aid of a Flight Instructor can be very time consuming not to mention the
cost of repair or replacement of your plane. For new pilots just getting started, we have several members that are
experienced in assisting new pilots in plane, engine, and radio selection, plane assembly and setup, and flight training
through the use of a “buddy box”.
Becoming a member requires a current AMA membership, a completed Thompson Prop Busters New Member
Application, and one year dues and initiation fee. (See General Club and Membership tab for more details)
We meet the first Monday of every month at various locations. Typically warmer months (approx April - Oct; weather permitting), we have our meetings at the field (see address in banner above) at 7 pm (come an hour earlier for food - we do a cookout). In the cooler months (approx Nov - March) we meet at the Family Restaurant in Painesville (1945 Mentor Ave.) at 6 pm (come an hour earlier for food).
If you have any questions please use the "Contact Us" page or call 440-478-4925 and leave a message. We will get back to you as soon as possible.
